Austin Therapist

“As a human, I recognize that when we live in the past, we feel depressed, and when we live in the future, we become anxious; learning to live in the present is the gift we are often blind to. The power of the present moment cannot be emphasized enough in an everchanging world of uncertainty and noise. As a licensed professional counselor, I witness the many challenges of being human thereby understanding the importance of being rooted within. A connected mind, body and soul can offer a safe place to be human.”

My Philosophy

To be rooted is to be strong; a human quality we all possess but sometimes do not feel or recognize. As a therapist, I keenly observe client strengths that often get overshadowed by shame, insecurities, codependency, developmental trauma, fear, and control. I recognize in my clients these challenges that leave them stuck and unfulfilled in their lives leading to feeling anxious and depressed. I am naturally oriented to look at a person’s strengths while addressing their challenges, combining a holistic approach to their presenting concern through the lens of a biopsychosocial-spiritual model. This model assists in recognizing a client’s subjective experience allowing for effective diagnosis and overall outcomes.

Human suffering is part of the human experience; discomfort is what allows us to grow and face what is not working in our lives, should we allow it in. In therapy, the tough feelings and somatic sensations are recognized and encouraged into awareness while providing a safe non-judgmental environment to explore and metabolize. Learning mindfulness skills to ease the discomfort is essential in deepening the roots that provide stability and strength in moving forward.

To serve my clients best, I pull from different therapeutic schools of thought, combining ideas and techniques that address the unique needs of my client. I consider my approach person-centered; a foundation of empathetic listening, genuineness and fostering mutual respect.

As your therapist, I am a partner in your journey to explore past, present, and future concerns. I am honored to have the opportunity to encourage your growth, hold your pain, and collaborate with you in developing a plan of well-being and contentment.
